This privacy notice explains how the SHIELD-6G project handles personal data collected through this website. SHIELD-6G is a research and innovation project funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme.
Who is responsible for your data
The project coordinator acts as the controller for personal data collected through this website. Contact details are given at the end of this notice. The consortium partners process data only where necessary to run the project and its communication activities.
What we collect, and why
Newsletter subscription
If you subscribe to project updates, we store the email address you enter and the date you subscribed. We use it for one purpose only: sending news about the project. The legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to the contact address below, and we will delete your address.
Website session cookie
This site sets a single cookie, named october_session. It keeps your browsing session consistent and carries the security token that protects the subscribe form against cross-site request forgery. Without it the form cannot work safely, so it is a strictly necessary cookie and does not require consent. It contains no advertising or tracking identifier and expires two hours after your last request, or when you close your browser.
Your cookie choice
When you answer the cookie banner, your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the name shield6g-cookie-consent. It records only whether you allowed embedded content, so that we do not ask again on every page. It is not a cookie, is never sent to our server, and you can clear it at any time through your browser's site data settings.
Embedded videos
Some pages embed videos hosted on YouTube, a service operated by Google. These are not loaded until you allow embedded content in the cookie banner. Once you allow them, YouTube receives your IP address and may store information on your device under its own terms. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain, which limits tracking, but the transfer to Google still takes place. You can withdraw this permission at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
Map on the Team page
The Team page shows a map of the countries the consortium works in. The country shapes and all the project's own information are served from this website. The map's background imagery comes from Esri, a mapping provider, and is not requested until you allow embedded content — until then the map works without it. When the background is loaded, Esri receives your IP address and the coordinates of the map tiles your browser requests.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard technical information for each request, including the IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and the browser identifier. These logs are used to keep the service secure and available, on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the site, and they are kept for a limited period before deletion.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising. Data is shared only with the hosting provider that runs this website on our behalf, with the mailing service used to send project updates, and — where you have allowed embedded content — with YouTube for videos and Esri for the map background. Where a service provider processes data on our behalf, a data processing agreement is in place.
How long we keep it
Subscription data is kept until you unsubscribe or until the project's communication activities end, whichever comes first. Server logs are kept for the period set by the hosting provider. Data that must be retained for reporting to the European Commission is kept for the period required by the grant agreement.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to ask for access to your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive your data in a portable form. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time; this does not affect processing carried out before the withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, write to the contact address below. If you believe your data has been handled improperly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in the EU country where you live or work.
Changes to this notice
If the way we handle personal data changes, this page is updated and the date at the top of the page changes with it.
